pBobble is no longer available for download. Shortly after the release of a commercial version of Puzzle Bobble, licensed from TAITO Corporation, I received the letter below from the maker of that version, and as a result, I have removed the game from the site.

Dear Niels Bo Andersen: I am writing you on behalf of OutLook Entertainment, Inc. and TAITO Corporation regarding a product which you have been distributing which is in violation of a TAITO Corp of Japan registered copyright. I was surprised to learn today of (pBubble) for sale at PalmGear. As your product description currently states "pBobble is a clone of the old arcade game Puzzle Bobble, or Bust-a-Move.." The product is based upon the original "Puzzle Bobble" arcade game (aka "Bust-A-Move"), and is clearly in violation of a TAITO Corp of Japan registered copyright. Because of this fact, this product must be removed from sale immediately. Link to the product on Handango: OutLook Entertainment, Inc. has secured the licensed rights from TAITO Corp of Japan for the Palm OS platform version of Puzzle Bobble (aka Bust-a-Move). The number of copies distributed (4,499) as of the time of this email has certainly already caused a significant financial loss to TAITO. Additionally this unauthorized product will also have a large negative financial impact upon the anticipated revenue of OutLook Entertainment's official commercial Licensed Version. OutLook Entertainment has already paid TAITO Corporation advance license fees based upon the Palm OS anticipated sales. I have documented the information regarding the downloads of these products so this information is available upon any request from TAITO's headquarters or their duly authorized legal representatives. Next steps: Sincerely, |
